Khao Lak south is the area from central Khao Lak running south to Phuket, where Khao Lak has expanded along the road and up into the surrounding mountains

Once the road from Khao Lak leaves the beach and climbs into the surrounding hills, there are several more resorts scattered along the Hin Shan cape cliff edge with spectacular views out over the sea, as well as the 2004 Tsunami Memorial. This area is around 2 to 3 kilometres from central Khao Lak.
Drive south for an hour and you arrive at Phuket Airport. Along the way is Tapla Mu pier, from where all liveaboards based in Khao Lak depart. Your liveaboard company will organise transport for you to Tapla Mu – there’s no need to book a hotel to be nearby the pier.
