How much does the PADI Open Water Diver Student Liveaboard package cost?

We offer a special Open Water Diver Student Liveaboard Package for our guests who want to learn to scuba dive with us: 28,700 Thai Baht per person

Please note we do not provide Open Water courses separate from the liveaboard - we can only teach Open Water courses on the liveaboard).

What Is The Timetable of the Open Water Course?

Day 1: Arrive at our Dive Shop in Khao Lak, an hour's drive up the coast from Phuket Airport. Once you've met our dive team and had a chance to relax after your journey, we'll give some PADI Open Water training DVDs to watch - nothing too strenuous. You will stay overnight in Khao Lak - we can arrange a clean, ensuite guesthouse room for you - 500 Baht with fan, 1000 Baht with air-con.

Day 2: In the morning, you'll try out the scuba gear in the swimming pool - you'll practise useful skills to help you use the scuba gear properly.

In the afternoon you'll do a some scuba theory with your diving instructor so you understand the principles of diving. We have a purpose built air conditioned classroom to ensure your comfort while you're doing your scuba theory.

In the evening we go on to the liveaboard at 6.30pm for the journey out to the Similan Islands overnight and your dive adventure!

Day 3: Your first three Open Water scuba dives! Your instructor will take you on an amazing and exhilarating trip into the underwater world during both dives, and help you perfect your scuba diving technique.

Day 4: Today you do your fourth Open Water scuba dive and with its completion you become a certified PADI Open Water Diver, able to scuba dive anywhere in the world to 18 metres! Congratulations! You then go on to do another two dives during the day, plus a night dive in the evening if you wish.

Day 5: Four more awesome dives await you today, with the chance of seeing manta rays at Koh Bon and another night dive in the evening. You can do the PADI Advanced Open Water dive course over Day 5 and 6 if you wish.

Day 6: The last two dives of the liveaboard in the morning before heading home and arriving back in Khao Lak mid afternoon. By this point you will not only be a certified diver but also a very well practised scuba diver who will have a lot of invaluable confidence in the water.

At this point you can continue your Thailand holiday with some great memories of the amazing Similan Islands and your scuba diving safari - or, like many people, you can come and dive with us again straight away...

How do I make a booking for the Open Water Liveaboard Package?

It's very easy. Just select "PADI Open Water Diver Student Liveaboard Package" on our online booking form and select which liveaboard date you want to join us.

IMPORTANT! Please plan to arrive one day before your chosen liveaboard departs to do your initial scuba diving lessons. Simply follow the link to the liveaboard departure schedule and then plan to arrive a day before your chosen liveaboard date by the early afternoon.

E.g. if you would like to join us on the liveaboard departing 5th November, please plan to join us on 4th November by 2pm

How do I get to your dive shop?

The easiest way is to fly into Phuket Airport the day before your liveaboard departs. We can organise a taxi to collect you from the airport and bring you to our dive shop in Khao Lak, about a hour's drive up the coast from Phuket Airport. The cost of the taxi is 1100 Thai Baht. AirAsia.com lets you book Bangkok-Phuket air tickets online. Alternatively you can catch the overnight bus from Bangkok to Khao Lak direct (approx 12 hours).

What do I need to bring to learn to dive?

Very little! We provide expert tuition and a complete set of top quality, well maintained scuba gear. You just need to bring your swimming costume, a towel, sun screen and anything else you need to relax on our liveaboard boat between dives.

How fit do I need to be to learn to dive?

You must be able to swim and be reasonably fit and healthy. You are required to fill out a medical statement before diving, certifying you have no respiratory (e.g. asthma) or other serious illnesses. If you are reasonably fit and healthy, you can dive. You can download a PDF version of the medical statement to read for yourself. If in doubt, take the statement to your doctor and ensure he agrees you are fit to dive.
